The British born Sri Lankan designer, Radhika Perera-Hernandez, is
bringing a touch of multi- functional classic elegance, mixed with the
intrigue and glamour of her Eastern roots to the fashion arena.
The designers name was derived from Radha - the Hindhu Goddess of love and devotion and for the woman who is now perfecting her vision to create garments for Goddesses around the world, what more perfect name than that?
Raised by a Buddhist father and a Catholic mother, her upbringing from Sri Lanka to London colored the young designers aesthetic by exposing her to series of eclectic sights and sounds. Taught to sew at a young age by a spirited grandmother who fostered her creativity, Hernandez began buying Indian fabrics and mixing them with vintage finds. Soon she began creating a fusion of British elegance, vintage sensibility and a touch of Eastern panache. Her natural talent for reconstructing vintage, led to the creation of Lois Lane Vintage, a website which fused her skills in sewing, photography and styling. Working with vintage re-construction, she gained a real understanding of pattern making and how to transform a women's body type through fit, structure and draping.
Moving to New York in her mid 20's, she worked in fashion for a number of years before beginning her own line of vintage inspired luxery kaftans and swimwear.
In the Summer of 2010 Lois London was born. An organically grown collection of the most mesmerizing kaftans and swimwear. Lois London is the exotic culmination of the essence of her vintage muses, old Hollywood glamor and Eastern beauty. Each Kaftan perfectly accents a variety of silhouettes. Intricate beading, rich colors and airy fabrics put the wearer in touch with her inner goddess. Tasteful, opulent, effortless, multi- purpose the garments are draped to the female form in luxurious fabrics.
The collection pays homage to her roots and all the beauty and pain she has witnessed. To her grandmother, father and brother, who she lost suddenly in her 20's, a decade she vows shaped her womanhood and spirituality; and to the land she reigns from.
